Over @ Dear Author: Cress by Marissa Meyer

Today, you can read my review of Cress by Marissa Meyer over @ Dear Author . This is the third in Meyer's fun scifi fairy tale series, the Lunar Chronicles, and I fully expected to love it. Stop by and see if my expectations were met and let me know what you thought if you've read this book or the others in the series!

Cress Cover

Today,  USA Today revealed  the cover of Marissa Meyer 's third novel Cress . The third installment in the Lunar Chronicles series, this one follows the mysterious girl we met near the end of Cinder and is (as expected) a retelling of Rapunzel . I have become a bigger fan of Meyer's scifi retellings with each entry. Given my unreserved love for Scarlet , I am fairly champing at the bit to get my hands on Cress . A computer hacker trapped in an orbiting satellite? Brilliant. Coverwise, I really do love the whole theme Feiwel & Friends has going on with this series. While Cinder' s cover   remains my favorite (nothing beats a cyborg leg in a red slipper), I get a little thrill from each one. Which cover is your favorite?

Golden Pretties

Come on! How am I supposed to sit around and ignore these upcoming releases when they feature such pretty, pretty covers? You've likely seen them floating around before, but they go so well together I had to throw out a mention. I like to think their dust jackets will be thick and matte, with that slightl pebbly feel to them that makes my bibliophilic heart sing. Well done, Bloomsbury and Allison & Busby cover peeps. I mean, really. Well done. Conjured by Sarah Beth Durst Okay. A supernatural librarian in the witness protection program. A magical serial killer on the loose. I feel fairly confident I can just stop there. Yes? But, oh dear, all the pins in that heart . . . Due out September 3rd. Bitter Greens by Kate Forsyth This one's got all sorts of potential. A retelling of the Rapunzel fairy tale told (partially) from the perspective of a woman at the court of Louis XIV. I ask you. Need I go on? The early word from across the pond (and Oz) is very good. Retold Pretties

It's time to look ahead to the pretties coming out this year. You all know my penchant for fairy tales retold. Having recently come off the high of Marissa Meyer 's Scarlet , I find myself eager to dive into a few more upcoming retellings. As luck would have it, there are several on the horizon. Here are three that look especially nice. Which one catches your fancy? Strands of Bronze and Gold by Jane Nickerson I have been waiting for a solid Bluebeard retelling for some time now. In fact, if you've read a good one, do let me know. This one has the look of one I'm gonna enjoy. Girl moves to a manor house in the deep south to live with her mysterious guardian. The usual terror ensues. My fingers are crossed. Due out March 12th Of Beast and Beauty by Stacey Jay I enjoyed the liberties Ms. Jay took with the well-worn Romeo & Juliet tale. So I am perfectly willing to give her a chance with my beloved Beauty & the Beast. This one involves a blind princess, ...
