2014 Must Be Mine List

Right. First things first. Time to kick off the year with my 2014 Must Be Mine list:

And no covers yet on these, but they will be mine just the same:

The Raven Cycle #3  by Maggie Stiefvater
The Perilous Sea by Sherry Thomas
Mortal Heart by Robin LaFevers
Tell the Wind and Fire by Sarah Rees Brennan

What about you guys? Dying to read any of these, too? What's on your 2014 list?

  1. You always do this to me! Make me think of books that haven't EVEN come out yet.
And help me discover ones I didn't even know were a thought in someone's mind.
    You sly devilish woman.

  3. Yes to Cress, Night Broken, and Magic Breaks! I had totally forgotten about Isla coming out this year. And I am absolutely dying to read Murder of Crows. I loved Written in Red so much. I'm also impatiently waiting for Jenn Bennet's 3rd Arcadia Bell book, although I can't think of the title at the moment. It's going to be a good book year. :)

    1. I was surprised at how into Written in Red I was. Can't wait to get back to that world and those people.

    Oh, really good list!

That ISLA cover is growing on me - I really liked the original ANNA and LOLA covers, but yeah, I can see all the three new covers going very nicely together.

The Anne Bishop and Sarah Rees Brennan books are on my list as well - the SRB especially!

    1. I know. I had feelings both ways, and I would have loved to have seen what they did with a Lola cover matching the original hardcovers.

      Especially the SRB!!!

  5. Man, what a great list! I have a similar list. I didn't know about some of these though (like Rainbow Rowell's new book) or Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater. Will add those to my list.

  6. I have Lost Lake, Landline, Tell the Wind and Fire and both Maggie books on my MUST have list. As well as Fangirl, Shimmer by Paula Weston, These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Megan Spooner, Anomaly by Caroline Richmond and I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson. So many great books out this year!

    1. I just received a copy of These Broken Stars! Really looking forward to starting it. Just as soon as I finish my spontaneous Fangirl re-read. THAT. BOOK.

  7. Yes, at least half are on my list two, so I'm off to check out the other half, because I'm sure I will want them as well! :--)

Love your list and I love the title of it!!
    LOL
We have a few of the same, though I have to admit that i'm kind of over Isla and the Happily Ever After, I think that I've waited so long for that book that no matter what it is it won't be good enough :(
I'm really excited for the next Huntley Fitzpatrick too, and even more because next year she's writing Tim's story.

    1. LOL. I hear ya re: Lola. How long have we been waiting now? Although, it does sound as though she's had a rough go of it over this book and I sympathize with that. Can't imagine the pressure of a fandom.

      TIM'S STORY. Yes, please.

  9. Isla, Mercy, Sarra Manning, Lost Lake, the SRB book and OMIGOD SINNER! I cannot wait for all of those.

I'm also looking forward to the other two books in Molly O'Keefe's new contemporary series and both of the Mhairi McFarlane books out in the US this year (I read one on new year's day and really liked it). And Liza Palmer's Heroine, which is a late 2014/early 2015 release, sooooo I'll be dying waiting for an entire year.

    1. SINNER.

I really am going to read Crazy Thing Called Love soon. I've been eyeing Heroine. Would love a December release on that one!

  10. Lost Lake, Isla, It Felt Like a Kiss, Magic Breaks, Raven Cycle #3, and The Perilous Sea are all on my list too. Plus the latest Sebastian St. Cyr mystery (not as good as the Lady Julia books but I love the main female character, Hero -- she's the reason I've kept with them), My Beautiful Enemy by Sherry Thomas, and Deanna Raybourn's next standalone, City of Jasmine.

Also, Sarra Manning just said on twitter that It Felt Like a Kiss will be available in the US via Amazon!

    1. Wow. There are a lot of those St. Cyr books out. I should probably give the first one a go. I didn't know that was the name of the next Sherry Thomas! Very excited. When is it out?

Publishers: please to be facilitating my Sarra Manning needs on this side of the pond. THANK YOU.

    2. The first St Cyr book is like The Fugitive. The third book, I found part of the mystery REALLY disturbing (and there's a plot twist that comes from nowhere and is OTT). The fourth book is when Hero starts to get more page time.

No release date for Sherry Thomas yet -- fingers crossed for late 2014.

I have you to thank for introducing me to Sarra Manning! I really hope putting her NA books on Amazon will lead lots of readers to them.

Linger by Maggie Stiefvater, Review + Giveaway!

It seems a long time ago now that I first read Shiver -- the first book in the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy. But looking back I started it on the plane ride to BEA and finished it there in the conference center, fingers gripping the cover tightly, while sitting on the floor in one of the many autograph lines. And now it's May again and BEA is right around the corner and I emerge from my recent and nasty reading slump stupor to find a copy of Linger sitting in my mailbox like a glove thrown down in the dirt. "I will be the one to pull you out," it whispers to me slyly. "Just open me up and take a sip. I promise--one sip is all it will take." And I look at it with fear and longing written all over my face. "You promise?" I ask  intently. "Because it's been a long walk in the cold and I'm not sure I can take another disappointment." "Just open me up," it says, confidence written all over its cover. And so I do. And everythin

On Angie, the Relative Scarcity Thereof

I've been a bit scarce round these parts of late and I feel badly about it. But there is a good reason and I've been waiting until today to share it with you. Just so I could include one rather pertinent detail. It's a boy! Fortunately I'm at the point where I'm starting to feel better, so things should soon start resembling business as usual around here. I, for one, am relieved.
