And here is the list of upcoming titles that I can hardly wait to read. Behold, my most anticipated novels of 2020:

    I have read Headliners, Love Her or Lose Her, and Every Other Weekend. I think all three got 4.5 stars from me - near perfect! I also hope to read Loathe at First Sight, By the Book, Dani Brown, The Switch, Breath Like Water, and Verona Comics. I adored Chloe Brown, and want more of the Brown sisters stories, and I thought the Flatshare was great. The others just sound like great fits for me. Hope you get to read them all!

    Definitely looking forward to Headliners and Return of the Thief. Oh, I have The Switch and The Bride Bet on my list also. My list is still small but I think it's going to get bigger after looking up some of these. :)

    Return of the Thief and Instant Karma are both on my 2020 list! I am also excited to try: Smoke Bitten by Patricia Briggs (This may be tied with Return of the Thief as my Most Anticipated), The Upside of Falling by Alex Light, The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller, The Notorious Virtues by Alwyn Hamilton,
    We Free the Stars by Hafsah Faizal, Thorn by Intisar Khanani (A Goose Girl
    retelling!), and one MG - Winterborne Home for Vengeance and Valor by Ally Carter. - Miss Clark

      I have got to catch up on Mercy Thompson! I'm a few behind, and it really has been one of my favorite urban fantasy series for so long now. Thanks for sharing each of those titles. The Upside of Falling was on my radar, but I I'm going to go look the rest of them up now!

      I WISH! I somehow doubt it will be done until next year, but we can dream, right?!

Terms of Endearment

Have you ever been reading a book, moving along quite nicely, and then-- bam --a character whips out a particular term of endearment that just yanks you right out of the story? It happened to me recently, and I'm sad to say I couldn't recover. I did try. But she just kept using that term and I . . . I had to get the hell out of Dodge. Buh-bye, story. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. I'm not saying this is the norm (thank goodness). I can put up with a certain amount of treacly back and forth when it comes to the exchange of terms of endearment, especially if they fit the characters, their background, culture, the tenor of their relationship, etc. And the history of these terms  at home and from around the world is often fascinating (at times hilarious). But there comes a point where I can't see past the cheese and/or weird anymore and I do not want to be with these people any longer . Shallow? Perhaps. But it's a very individual thing, isn't it?...

I'm very excited about this giveaway because I thought it was such a great read and an excellent companion novel to Lament .
