Heroes Return Cover Art + a Plea

So about a week ago Moira J. Moore announced that she'd received the cover art for Heroes Return --the upcoming fifth novel in her wonderful Heroes series featuring Source & Shield duo Lee and Taro. Naturally all of us regular readers begged to see it and she kindly obliged. Here it is: Now. Blue lightning jazz hands aside, there are a number of levels on which this cover does not work. I would imagine that those of you who've read the series would agree that the first and foremost problem would be Taro. One of the dear boy's defining traits his his drop dead gorgeousness. Taro would not be who he is without his pretty exterior. And this guy...well, he looks rather alarmingly like Tarzan's slightly less evolved brother. He is also carrying a sword, despite the fact that he wouldn't have the first clue what to do with one. As for Lee. This girl has fringe on her boots and looks pretty...dapper...for pragmatic, doesn't care about her clothes Lee. This seri...

Heroes at Risk Giveaway Winner

And the winner is... Jenn ! Please contact me with your mailing address. When Ms. Moore's author copies come in she'll get it sent on its way to you. I loved hearing about your favorite heroes, heroines, anti-heroes, and more. There were some great mentions of my beloved Eugenides, the awesome Sirantha Jax, and classics Rhett Butler and Mr. Darcy. Also, several I have never heard of and look forward to checking out. Happily, it seems those of us in the know are one on the lovableness of Taro--the Stallion of the Triple S, Source Extraordinaire, and general Putter-Up-With-Lee! Thanks to Moira for her excellent interview!

Heroes at Risk by Moira J. Moore

I was positively quivering with excitement to get my hands on Heroes at Risk , the fourth book in Moira J. Moore 's excellent and incredibly fun heroes series. With each installment I've grown fonder of Taro and Lee. Bonded together as Source and Shield, respectively, they've been forced to deal with each other for awhile now and it's always a treat to watch them circle each other once more, to attempt to navigate the treacherous waters that lay between their opposing natures and meet somewhere in the middle. For the most part this has meant Taro putting up with Lee's obstinately pragmatic way of leading her life. For a brief period, in book three , things changed and a few important things came to the forefront in their relationship. I, for one, was very anxious to see what happened when they returned to their habitual home and roles. Back from "that damned island," as Taro would say, our Pair barely have time to settle back into the Triple S Residence at...

Interview with Moira J. Moore + Heroes at Risk Giveaway

Thanks to the lovely Ann Aguirre , I was introduced to Moira J. Moore and her hero series about a year and a half ago. Since then I've been pimping them here and there and everywhere and waiting (fairly impatiently) for Heroes at Risk --the fourth in the series-- to come out. As I was gearing up to get my copy, I contacted Ms. Moore about doing an interview to celebrate the release and, to my delight, she kindly accepted. I finished the book last night and I'll be posting my review tomorrow. For now you can find my reviews of the first three books here , here , and here . And without further ado, Moira J. Moore ! First things first: When did the idea for the Heroes series first hit you and what (if anything) did you know right off the bat? I was teaching English in Japan (age twenty-six or so) when I came up with the characters, world and plot for the first book. Being in Japan had a huge impact on the story, due to the wicked weather the Japanese experience. As well, the sl...

Rumor is...there'll be a Graceling giveaway! In case by some freak chance you are not already a regular follower of the sneaky and cheeky Book Smugglers , you should rectify that problem. Harry over at Temple Library Reviews is interviewing Ana and Thea this week and it would be a perfect way to get to know them. Read Part I of the interview and then continue right on to Part II . There was a high-pitched shriek heard round the 'Ville when I stumbled across the first chapter of Heroes at Risk , which Moira J. Moore has posted on her livejournal. If you're having a hard time holding out till August ...
