Chicago Review Press has been reissuing a few Mary Stewart classic mysteries in gorgeous, atmospheric trade paperbacks. Aren't they lovely? Today is Mary Stewart's birthday and, in honor of the event, Jennie over at the Mary Stewart Novels Blog is giving away a copy of The Ivy Tree to one lucky commenter. It's one of my very favorite Stewarts and a great way to be introduced to her work if you haven't had a chance yet. Check out the blurb for The Ivy Tree here and then go enter to win!
I can't quit Jennifer Echols . Not that I really try that hard, but I read her new ones and often feel as though I'm still searching for that one in possession of that certain something that will make me feel the way Going Too Far did. Like I couldn't put it it down. And definitely like I didn't hate either of the main characters after the fact. Well, I found it with Such a Rush . I read this 300+ pager in a single night, which clears up the question of whether or not I couldn't put it down. And I finished it definitely not hating either of the main characters. I didn't finish it loving them both unreservedly, though. I loved Leah with my whole heart from page one and that never changed. My feelings regarding one of the Hall brothers remain complicated. More to come on this in a bit. On a side note, I'm delighted that Such a Rush is Ms. Echols' hardcover debut. It's a meticulously designed book, a pleasure to hold in my hands as I stayed up way
Thanks for the mention, Angie!!ReplyDelete
You bet, Jennie!ReplyDelete
These covers are gorgeous! Wow. I'll have to pop over to Jennie's spot :)ReplyDelete
Thea, aren't they? I think you'd really like her books. I love it when reissues really do justice to what's inside. Wish they could do that for Moira Moore's books...ReplyDelete
Those covers are fantastic!ReplyDelete
The Ivy Tree is my favourite Stewart. Though Nine Coaches Waiting is a close second.
Thanks for the heads up, Angie. I went and entered, knowing how much you love Mary Stewart's work.ReplyDelete
Li, NINE COACHES WAITING is soooo good. I have a longstanding crush on Raoul. And I love Linda. "for short, or for pretty" :)ReplyDelete
Christine, my pleasure. I'm glad you entered! They're quite delightful books.
Dang it!!! I just added them all to the reader...and I thought I was done adding new blogs! :)ReplyDelete
Suey, *grin* you're welcome. :)ReplyDelete
