I have to say, I am pretty envious of the person who wins that tote bag. It is awesome.

About the book:
Bitterblue is the long-awaited companion to New York Times bestsellers Graceling and Fire.
Eight years after GracelingBitterblue is now queen of Monsea. But the influence of her father, a violent psychopath with mind-altering abilities, lives on. Her advisors, who have run things since Leck died, believe in a forward-thinking plan: Pardon all who committed terrible acts under Leck's reign, and forget anything bad ever happened. But when Bitterblue begins sneaking outside the castle--disguised and alone--to walk the streets of her own city, she starts realizing that the kingdom has been under the thirty-five-year spell of a madman, and the only way to move forward is to revisit the past.

Two thieves, who only steal what has already been stolen, change her life forever. They hold a key to the truth of Leck's reign. And one of them, with an extreme skill called a Grace that he hasn't yet identified, holds a key to her heart.

  1. I'll go with Bitterblue, because she seems like she could use a friend (at least in Graceling).

  2. Oh, I think I'd go with Katsa. She's damaged, yes, but she'll always be able to take care of herself (and probably me, too). Great giveaway!

  3. Omg I am so excited for this book!! I'd probably want Fire, because she's still strong on the inside, despite all the hate and fear for what she is, which I admire.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I'm also going to go with Katsa. I just felt that connection with her and beyond that I'm not sure why we'd make BFF's, but sometimes that's the kind of BFF you need. :o)

p.s. the boyfriend started reading Graceling this weekend. loves it. I knew he would. :o)

I'd have to say Katsa. She seems really cool and she could always use more friends.

  6. Bitterblue please! I love her addiction to stories and figuring out things.

  7. I think I'd want Po, so we could help each other out. Can't wait to see if any characters show up in the new book!

For a BFF, I would want self-confident Clara from Fire because she's a capable leader, a caring sister, and a patient friend. (extemter at hotmail dot com)

  9. Oh, this is a tough one. I'd have to say either Bitterblue or Katsa. I think they both need a friend. But, then again, Katsa has Po...

    ReplyDelete
  10. Um, I think I'd want to be friends with Fire, because I can be sure we'd never have a dull moment hanging out together :) Love that bag!

    ReplyDelete
  11. I suppose Katsa, because she could train me to help myself more. I already read this by the way and TOTALLY LOVED IT, which is why I think I need the totebag, to proclaim my love to the world! LOL

  12. Forget the book (though I want that too). The tote bag is awesome! Me wants it. I think I will go with Bitterblue, even though I haven't gotten to know her yet. It just seems like she'll be my type. Great giveaway!

I think I would want Katsa as my BFF, just so she can kick anyone's ass that tries to mess with me or does something mean. One look and they'd be scared! Also, I totally want to learn some moves. That'd be nice to know how to defend myself :D
    Thanks for the giveaway!

  15. umm. I need me that bag.

There aren't a lot of girls I can easily be around for long periods of time, but I like to think Katsa would be the exception to that, so I'll say her.

But I would never walk away from Po..

  16. OH NOS! What a great giveaway!! Oh man, if I had to choose just ONE of Kristin Cashore's lovely characters, you know I'm gonna have to go with Fire. Or Brigan. Mostly I just want to be a fly on the wall and watch their oh so lovely relationship unfold. *sigh* I think it's time for another reading.

  17. Katsa would be my first pick for this one. She's so strong and independent but she's got a vulnerable side to her too and I think we'd get along.

  18. Po is the best! He's loyal, funny, and his awesome grace would come in handy if I was ever in need.

  19. Happy Bitterblue day! After a quick read of Bitterblue, I'd have to say Giddon, who, despite often being the butt of the joke as well as lied to (for good reason, but still), is so loyal and steadfast to his friends. Loving the bag!

  23. I really like his character and think he deserves better than Katsa and all her issues.

  24. Oh my gosh. Fire, most likely. Not only was it my favorite book (of the first two), but I love how Fire was forced to grow up among people who would take advantage of her and not see her as a genuine person. I'd like to think that, once she understands how I truly see her as simply herself, we'd get along pretty well. :)

  27. As I really dug "Fire" more than "Graceling" (and I dug "Graceling" quite a bit), I think I'm going to have to go with Fire. She was a very loyal friend to those she truly cared about; plus, she was delightfully flawed, which made her (despite her monsterous status), pretty relatable.

  28. I think I'd go with Bitterblue. Granted the last time we saw her she was just a kid, but I think she's sweet. And will probably grow up into a great person. =)

  29. Ooh...well, they're all such good and real characters, but for a best friend, I'd probably want Raffin. Or maybe Hanna when/as she grows up. Either would be wonderful (well, so would a lot of other characters, but those are the best!)

  30. Hmm.. I would probably want Po to be my best friend! Although I'd be kinda jealous of him and Kasta... so maybe I would be besties with Kasta instead?

  31. I would like to be friends with Bitterblue herself!

I have my own giveaway of two harcovers going on, but I really want to win one myself! (and the tote bag is COOL).

  32. Katsa because she would back me up and we seem kinda similar.

  34. I think I would go with Bitterblue. I seem to recall having this feeling like she had this centered/levelheaded type of character and I liked that a lot.

  35. Archer, because he's a bit darker, mischievous, and protective, and I'm a sucker for those kinds of guys.

  37. Oh, so exciting!

I have to say Kasta as she can survive ANYTHING! So when the zombie Apocalypse happens, I'm sticking with her.

Tough choice! I believe I'd choose Fire, because she's such a loyal person that I think she'd make a pretty amazing friend. I so loved that book!

  41. That's a tough decision! I think I'll go with Po because I like his personality so much! He's funny, and easy going probably what I need and I'm always ready for a good friendly match it doesn't matter if it's physical or mental, I'm sure I could always drive him crazy especially if I knew Katsa, too. Well, besides I want that tote-bag so bad!
I hope I win (no hard feelings to the winner)

    Thanks!

  42. Oh gosh this is a hard one! I was drawn to Kasta from the moment I picked Graceling up, but Bitterblue, oh Bitterblue and I shared something special. I 've been waiting for her story ever since and am ecstatic it's finally here! thanks for the giveaway!

  43. This one is tough! However, I'd say that my BFF would be Bitterblue, and here's why:
    Bitterblue is strong,
    Innocent but courageous,
Tiny bit afraid of what lies ahead,
Trustworthy, for she has seen so much,
    Expresses herself directly,
Real, she has problems and joys, and feelings,
    Bears very well with secrets,
Lies when needed, but only for good,
    Understanding and kind,
Excellent example of what a friend should be!!

I've been a bit scarce round these parts of late and I feel badly about it. But there is a good reason and I've been waiting until today to share it with you. Just so I could include one rather pertinent detail. It's a boy! Fortunately I'm at the point where I'm starting to feel better, so things should soon start resembling business as usual around here. I, for one, am relieved.

Forever Blog Tour + Giveaway!

I'm awfully excited to be a part of this unique blog tour in celebration of the release of Forever by the insanely talented Maggie Stiefvater .  Scholastic recently launched an online community called  This Is Teen  to connect readers with their favorite YA authors and books. Visit their page on   Facebook   for all the latest news on   Maggie Stiefvater   and   Forever .  Each stop on the tour is hosting a particular character from the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy, and I have the good luck to be the stop for Sam--my favorite emo-wolfboy!  Sam is so very endearing, in a decidedly non-angsty or overt way. His breathtaking blend of maturity and vulnerability tugs at my heartstrings and the strength of his relationship with Grace is unswerving.  He is warm and thoughtful and artistic, and I liked him right from the start of the series . Because I can't resist, here are two of my favorite Sam quotes, the first from Grace's point of view in  Shiver and the second from Sam&
