In Which I Might Be Shallow...

Yes, it's a fake. And yes, he's shirtless, and tortured, and poor RPattz, etc. But...I don't know...it's sort of how I picture him. Edward, that is. The Edward of New Moon. Pre-Breaking Dawn Edward. Back when he was still awesome and dangerous and ready to End It All In Italy. Sigh. Good times.

    I agree, I miss that Edward as well. I am curious to see how the movie of Breaking Dawn turns out though, the book was awful so I wonder if the movie will be as well?

    New Moon will always be my favorite. I hope Robert and Kristin do a good job transfering it to the big screen because I felt this was the one that held a lot of emotion.

    Anon, don't feel alone! I definitely am put off by the cold surface with no give, etc descriptions. I probably mentally gloss over those in the text because I do like the guy. Or at least I like pre-BD Edward.

Interview with April Lindner + Jane Giveaway!

I'm very excited about today's interviewee. As you know, I had been looking forward to the publication of Jane for months when a review copy happened in my lap and I let out a gasp of joy. Being a modernized retelling of Jane Eyre with a rock star-ized Mr. Rochester named Nico and a cover that hits every last one of my aesthetic buttons, it was sort of made to order for this reader. Needless to say, it more than lived up to my not inconsiderable expectations and I have been recommending it on a pretty much daily basis to family, friends, co-workers, neighbors . . . you get the picture. Close Kin by Clare B. Dunkle

Close Kin   is the second book in  Clare B. Dunkle 's Hollow Kingdom trilogy. It takes place around five years after  The Hollow Kingdom   and follows Kate's younger sister Emily. Or at least it seems to. Where  The Hollow Kingdom   stuck pretty closely to Kate's story,  Close Kin   jumps around a fair bit, splitting its time three different ways as it traces the paths of Emily, her friend and would-be suitor Seylin, and an extremely unhappy elf named Sable.  When Emily fails to take Seylin's romantic advances seriously, half goblin/half elf Seylin informs the Goblin King he is leaving to search out his other heritage and see if he can find any elves who managed to survive the last goblin harrowing. He does, in fact, come across a rather feral group of elves but, having suffered much in the name of mere survival, they are barely recognizable as the beautiful, carefree creatures Seylin dreamt of.
