Creepy Pretties

Frank Portman has his second YA book coming out August 25th--Andromeda Klein. It's about a girl whose life changes when she begins predicting real events through her tarot card readings. Things only get creepier from there. I love this cover!
Carrie Vaughn's Kitty books are sitting in my TBR glancing at me longingly. I'm looking forward to digging in. I'm also excited about her upcoming YA foray--Voices of Dragons. Vaughn herself has described the book as, "the rock climbing jet fighters alternate history dragon book." Ahem. I am so in.
Lastly comes the third and final novel in Lisa McMann's incredibly addictive Wake trilogy. I can't wait to read Gone but I'm gonna be honest and tell you that that empty green chair is making me nervous. Janie? Cabel? You have to be okay, okay?!

  2. Andromeda Klein looks sooo good. I love that kind of stuff with tarot readings.

I haven't read any of Lisa McMann's book! I hear so many great things about them, though. I'll have to check it out!

  3. Lenore, I know! I'm glad AK is out so soon.

Bianca, it does sound fun, doesn't it? The McMann books are great. Really well-written and intense. Hope you get to them soon. :)

I love Lisa McMann's books. The cover for Gone is great, but now you've made me nervous! I'm definitely buying the hardcover, but I think I'll have to be spoiled for the ending before I read it. I like Janie and Cabel a lot.

  6. Karen, lol! You nut. Though I confess, with some final books in a series/trilogy it is very hard to resist peeking. Just to make sure...

Jenni, it's nice you have time to read the first two before GONE comes out! Though they're very fast reads. I hope it's a strong finish. I suspect it will be.

I know, I know! But as I get older I honestly can't stand being shocked in a bad way. (I never got over what happened to Joyce in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Did you watch that show? I started reading spoilers for the show after that.) Karen

  9. Natasha, so do I. I'm not sure how she's going to wrap it up.

Karen, lol. I understand. And "The Body" was the most horrifically sad episode of Buffy ever. *sob*

Linger by Maggie Stiefvater, Review + Giveaway!

It seems a long time ago now that I first read Shiver -- the first book in the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy. But looking back I started it on the plane ride to BEA and finished it there in the conference center, fingers gripping the cover tightly, while sitting on the floor in one of the many autograph lines. And now it's May again and BEA is right around the corner and I emerge from my recent and nasty reading slump stupor to find a copy of Linger sitting in my mailbox like a glove thrown down in the dirt. "I will be the one to pull you out," it whispers to me slyly. "Just open me up and take a sip. I promise--one sip is all it will take." And I look at it with fear and longing written all over my face. "You promise?" I ask  intently. "Because it's been a long walk in the cold and I'm not sure I can take another disappointment." "Just open me up," it says, confidence written all over its cover. And so I do. And everythin

Interview with Diana Peterfreund + Rampant Giveaway!

Ever since I fell in love with Diana Peterfreund 's Secret Society Girl series last year, I've been hoping I'd get the chance to interview her here. Tomorrow marks the release of her new novel, Rampant , and let me tell you that you have not read a book like this before. You can read my review here , but all you really need to know is that it's a story about killer unicorns and the young women who hunt them. You want to read it now, don't you? Oh, yeah, and it's YA and the first in a series! To celebrate the release, Diana graciously answered a few of my most burning questions. As she is always a delight, I know you'll enjoy them as much as I did. First things first: When did the idea for Rampant first hit you and what (if anything) did you know right off the bat? In early 2005, just after selling Secret Society Girl , I had this dream of being chased by a very dangerous unicorn. I woke up and went to go look it up to see if I could figure out the meanin
