Silent Pretties

These are Mira's UK covers for Deanna Raybourn's Lady Julia Grey series and I want! I've always been a sucker for a matched set and these are just so delightful and fun. Particularly in light of the fact that my original copies will always and forever be hodgepodge as they made a major series cover art shift with the release of Silent on the Moor. Sigh. I particularly like the "A wickedly witty Lady Julia Grey mystery" tagline on the second two. But since these are only available in the UK, the total cost is currently prohibitive. So for now I will simply covet from afar...

  3. ooo. You know, thebookdepository.com has 2 of the 3 here and they have free shipping. But not Silent in the Grave otherwise I'd be doing what my best friend does when I shop with her: "Buy it, buy it, buy IT!"

  6. I love them Angie! Especially since I wanted to cover Silent on the Moor so no one would see what I was reading. If they knew how good it was they wouldn't judge, but some people do judge a book by its cover:) like my husband.

  7. Emily, lol! I hear ya. I hate have to justify what's inside to someone because of a cover that does not appeal to them. This set would be a perfect one to have and to lend.

  10. Amy, they're so stylized and fun. I like it when the covers for a series are both distinctive and cohesive. These fit that nicely.

Caffey, I adore this series and I hope they treat you well. Let me know!

I love the covers! And, like you, I'm a sucker for matched sets. I'll have to think about asking my friend in London to get them for me. Karen S.

Triple Prize Pack Giveaway!

Not long ago I discovered a few of you tweeting to get me to the 300 follower mark. As little things I read on Twitter often do, that one sort of made my day. You're all really too sweet for words and I joked that perhaps it was time for a giveaway. The truth is I've been in the mood to have one for awhile now and this is as good a time as any. So here's the deal. This will be a triple prize pack giveaway , meaning there are three packs and you can indicate which one you'd like to be entered to win in the comments. I will choose three random winners and contact them. This giveaway is open to anywhere The Book Depository ships! Here's the list of countries , FYI. Review | The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion, Vols. 1 & 2 by Beth Brower

I feel a bit giddy finally talking to you all about this series. If you'll remember, I fell madly in love with The Q  when it came out a few years ago. Now, Beth Brower is writing The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion — a series of novellas set in London in 1883. Each volume is an excerpt from the incorrigible Emma's journals, and the first two volumes are already available with the third on the way soon. I think they'd make rather perfect pandemic reading. Humorous and charming down to their bones, they're just what the doctor ordered to lift your spirits in this uncertain time that just proves to be too much some days. If you're experiencing one of those days, I suggest giving Volume 1   a go (it's only 99 cents on Kindle, $4.99 for a trade paperback copy). It will surprise exactly none of you that I own print and digital editions of both volumes.  Miss Emma M. Lion has waited long enough. Come hell or high water (and really, given her track record,  both a...
