Book Blogger Appreciation Week

Amazingly, it's getting on that time of year again. Book Blogger Appreciation Week 2010 will be held September 13th-17th. I had a very fun time last year participating in the week full of events, getting to know new (to me) bloggers, and enjoying the general merriment. This year everyone is invited to register their blogs for the week and, as part of registering, bloggers can self-nominate for any awards categories for which they feel their blog is a good fit. You can, of course, opt-out of the awards portion if you would like. In order to nominate, bloggers are instructed to post the links to five posts that best represent their blogs in the categories they are entering. So here are my posts for consideration in Best Young Adult Book Blog:

Review of The Demon's Covenant by Sarah Rees Brennan
Retro Friday Review of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton
Review of Some Girls Are by Courtney Summers
Retro Friday Review of A Certain Slant of Light by Laura Whitcomb
The Parents of YA

and Best Written Book Blog:

Review of Linger by Maggie Stiefvater
Review of The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson
Review of This Gorgeous Game by Donna Freitas
Unexpected Moments
Stubborn Girls (and Why I Love Them)

That's it for now. I hope you all go register and take part. It's sure to be an excellent week!

  4. *grin* Thanks, you guys! I was pretty uncomfortable with the whole self-nomination process. I mean, I understand where they're coming from with transparency, etc. But, still... :)

On Angie, the Relative Scarcity Thereof

I've been a bit scarce round these parts of late and I feel badly about it. But there is a good reason and I've been waiting until today to share it with you. Just so I could include one rather pertinent detail. It's a boy! Fortunately I'm at the point where I'm starting to feel better, so things should soon start resembling business as usual around here. I, for one, am relieved.

Forever Blog Tour + Giveaway!

I'm awfully excited to be a part of this unique blog tour in celebration of the release of Forever by the insanely talented Maggie Stiefvater .  Scholastic recently launched an online community called  This Is Teen  to connect readers with their favorite YA authors and books. Visit their page on   Facebook   for all the latest news on   Maggie Stiefvater   and   Forever .  Each stop on the tour is hosting a particular character from the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy, and I have the good luck to be the stop for Sam--my favorite emo-wolfboy!  Sam is so very endearing, in a decidedly non-angsty or overt way. His breathtaking blend of maturity and vulnerability tugs at my heartstrings and the strength of his relationship with Grace is unswerving.  He is warm and thoughtful and artistic, and I liked him right from the start of the series . Because I can't resist, here are two of my favorite Sam quotes, the first from Grace's point of view in  Shiver and the second from Sam&

BBAW Giveaway: Silent on the Moor by Deanna Raybourn

To help kick off Book Blogger Appreciation Week , and as part of the massive number of giveaways going on, I'm chipping in with my own. To one lucky commenter I'm giving away a brand new copy of Silent on the Moor by Deanna Raybourn . This book was one of my favorite reads so far this year and will undoubtedly be on my Best of 2009 list. It is the third installment in the Lady Julia Grey mystery series . Reading order: Silent in the Grave , Silent in the Sanctuary , and Silent on the Moor . Y ou can read my reviews of all three here , here , and here . This is a seriously enjoyable, well-written series and I am crazy fond of the intrepid Lady Julia and private inquiry agent Mr. Nicholas Brisbane. All you have to do is leave a comment and a way to contact you to be entered. For one extra entry you can become a follower. The contest is open to U.S. and Canada only and closes at midnight on Friday, September 18th. I'll be announcing the winner the next day. Thanks for stoppi
