We are on a Richard Armitage run over here. I make no apologies. But I would not be a true fan (of the Armitage or of Sarah Rees Brennan) if I didn't direct you to her brilliantly nerdy parody of the film version of The Hobbit entitled Thorin Dreamboatshield: an Unexpected Hotness of Dwarves. It's good to be the dwarf king . . .
There's really very little to say, isn't there? I hope you are well, wherever you are. I hope that your loved ones are. I hope that you're finding small ways to stay afloat, to remain connected to something, someone, someplace (real or fictional) that sustains you. Dark and difficult times, indeed. I've rather been holding on to this review. I felt so much, so quickly, so irrevocably for this book that it rapidly became hard to talk about to anyone who hadn't read it. And so I hope I can do it justice, just barely enough justice that, if you haven't, you'll run right out and do so. Now is the perfect time. I feel strongly that this book is what you need in your life at this moment. And so. You might want to prepare yourselves. I'm about to wax rhapsodic. But first, and introductory excerpt: At the end of that session, Fay said, What if it's not what happened with this boy you regret, it's you? It's the you who you left behind. It's ...

That was so funny. I also liked the movie but saw its flaws and am wondering how they are going to get 2 more movies out of the book. However, Richard Armitage is quite hot even as a dwarf so I'll be there. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree. It still feels like the 3-film stretch was the wrong call.
DeleteBut I never object to another 3 hours of Richard Armitage. No, I don't.
A Richard Armitage run is a very good thing. And yes, I also wonder how they'll milk three movies of The Hobbit. But as long as we can look forward to Richard, I'm okay with that.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it, though? :)
DeleteYep, I'll be seeing each one as it comes out.
Um mine. No one else's.
ReplyDeleteSurely we can share, Katie. We've managed to with Warner after all . . .
DeleteThank you, I laughed and laughed!
ReplyDeleteShe is brilliant.
DeleteI read this and laughed so hard and LOVED it so hard as well. DREAMBOATSHIELD FOR SURE!! <3 Alyssa
ReplyDeleteSo did I, Alyssa. I kept trying to quote bits to my husband but was giggling too hard to deliver them properly.
