Swoony Couple Pretties

Couples, couples, swoony couples. That's what we've got in this pretties installment. It's achingly close to spring, and I approve of this message. We also have two known quantities in the Fitzpatrick and the Lindner and one unknown (to me) in the Lofty. I look forward to making their acquaintance. What I Thought Was True by Huntley Fitzpatrick I'm sure this one is already on your radar, you may have read an advance copy. But I've been sort of quietly pining for it ever since I finished My Life Next Door . And now here it is out next month and I can go visit with Gwen and Cassidy and Huntley's lovely words. Due out April 15 Blue Notes by Carrie Lofty Guys. I love this cover. I mean, I really love it. The whole thing sounds like the usual New Adult rigmarole (SIGH). I mean, piano prodigy meets reluctant billionaire playboy? It's like a festival of NA tropes with a bluesy cherry on top. But . . . that cover. Due out May 6 Love, Lucy by April Lin...

Wanted Pretties

Wow. These books . . . they need to be on my shelf. Like I am starting to glance at my calendar and mumble about how many months left in the year. Not only have they all three been on my must-have list for some time now, but they got themselves such fantastically pretty covers to boot. Way to go, little books! Way to stand up for yourselves and demand the eye-catching treatment. Now why do you have to go and be out next year?! Catherine by April Lindner This is the second novel from Ms. Lindner. After falling utterly in love with Jane , her contemporary retelling of Jane Eyre , I was signed on for life. But knowing that her sophomore novel is a contemporary retelling of Wuthering Heights sort of nudges me over into supreme fangirl territory. How will she update that bit of insanity? I can't wait to find out. Love the idea, love the cover, love everything. Due out January 2nd Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi I'm incredibly pleased with the cover revamping that went on with ...

Interview with April Lindner + Jane Giveaway!

I'm very excited about today's interviewee. As you know, I had been looking forward to the publication of Jane for months when a review copy happened in my lap and I let out a gasp of joy. Being a modernized retelling of Jane Eyre with a rock star-ized Mr. Rochester named Nico and a cover that hits every last one of my aesthetic buttons, it was sort of made to order for this reader. Needless to say, it more than lived up to my not inconsiderable expectations and I have been recommending it on a pretty much daily basis to family, friends, co-workers, neighbors . . . you get the picture. It's now just under a month until the book is out and, in anticipation of the release, I invited  April Lindner over to dish about all things Jane. She kindly accepted. Please welcome April! First things first: The Cover. I am in deep smit with that cover. Did you have any input and what was your reaction upon seeing it for the first time? I adore the cover too, and was blown away the...

Jane by April Lindner

I have had my eye on this book ever since I saw Chelle feature it over at  Tempting Persephone  a few months back. As you know, I am a sucker of the largest order for a good retelling. Retold fairy tales in particular are a weakness of mine, but when I saw that  April Lindner 's upcoming novel  Jane   was, in fact, a modern retelling of  Jane Eyre , I didn't know my heart could beat quite that fast. I got my masters in literature, specifically Victorian lit, and  Jane Eyre   has been a special favorite of mine ever since I first read it on a cross country road trip when I was 14. As I am also a huge fan of historical fiction and YA, I think we can safely say I am sitting just about dead center in this novel's target audience. But it should also be noted that quite a bit of that quickening heartbeat can be chalked up to this breathtaking cover. I want to marry this cover. I think it perfectly conveys what you are getting with this package--from the...

Misty Pretties

Don't you want to cuddle up with these three and just stroke them? Three completely different, but equally stunning covers, styles, and books, and yet . . . I must have them all. I love how they each fill me with misty feelings of longing for something I didn't even know I wanted. Jane by April Lindner Okay. Three words for you-- Jane Eyre retelling. What? You need more incentive? Well. It's set in the present day. And the Mr. Rochester character is a famous rock star on the brink of a major comeback. And his first name is Nico. And her last name is Moore. And, oh, I am so in love with this whole idea. And that cover? It is full of win. Love the pink letters. Due out October 11th. Entwined by Heather Dixon And while we're drooling over retellings, let's take a look at Heather Dixon's debut retelling of the Twelve Dancing Princesses fairy tale. I have read two retellings of this classic tale and enjoyed both, but I am fully open to a new interpretation....
