Amour et Florand

Today, I'm over @ Chachic's Book Nook (one of my favorite haunts) with a guest post for her inspired Amour et Florand week. The week celebrates the works of Laura Florand , and I've contributed a few words on why I love her Amour et Chocolat series . If you've got a moment to spare, stop in and let me convince you to read these books sooner rather than later!

Queen's Thief Week

Today I'm over at Ch-ch-ch-Chachic's place losing my crap over Eugenides and Megan Whalen Turner 's Queen's Thief series in general. Chachic invited me to talk a little bit about how I've gone about convincing others to read this wonderful series, and I happily accepted. I mean, talking about talking about books? Count me in!  Bibliovangelizing is one of my very favorite pastimes and these books have caused me to indulge in quite a lot of it. This is one spectacular event Chachic's organized and the posts so far have been top notch. Do drop in and say hi , won't you?

Friday Evening Stops

It's still just the first week in January and already all kinds of things are going on around the blogosphere. It's these kinds of things that remind me it's okay that the holidays are over and good things will certainly come this year. Starting with these three: First off, I wanted to be sure to point out that today is the last day to download Magic Gifts --the free Kate Daniels novella that Ilona Andrews gave as a Christmas gift to the fans. Best idea in the world, if you ask me. I've read it and loved it and you will, too. So scoot on over and download it before it's gone! Next up, I would be remiss if I didn't direct you to the screamingest Kindle book deal around. Linda Gillard 's fabulous Emotional Geology is now available on Kindle for a mere 99 cents! This is my favorite of all of Linda's wonderful books. Previously out of print, you do not want to miss this one. My review here . Lastly, I'm going to be taking part in an...

BBAW: New Treasures

I'm a bit behind on this one, but I didn't want to let Book Blogger Appreciation Week go by without highlighting three of the best blogs I discovered this year. They're each of them distinct and charming and they managed (within a very short time indeed) to get me coming back for more on a daily basis. First up-- Book Harbinger . Isn't that the best title? This one is a bit of a cheat, as I actually met Holly in person before she started her blog and I may have egged her on a bit when she brought it up as something she was thinking about starting. You see, I knew she'd be just fabulous at it and, after reading (and consistently loving) her reviews on GoodReads , I looked forward to enjoying them in a more extended and unlimited environment. Holly has such a developed sense of and appreciation for beauty and the aesthetics of books, their covers, and their language, and I look forward to each of her reviews and posts with great anticipation. Add her to your feed, g...

I ♥ YA

Today I'm over at Chachic's Book Nook talking about young adult literature and why I read it. This is a regular feature Chachic runs, in which she invites other bloggers to come over and answer a few questions and then people can comment and leave recommendations on books they think that blogger would like based on her comments. Great, no? Do stop by and let me know why you read YA and what your favorites are.

Monday Afternoon Visits

First up, I have incredibly good news! You'll remember my confusion and dismay when I discovered The King Commands --the sequel to Meg Burden 's Northlander --was nowhere to be found despite having been published not quite two months ago. Well, a couple of days ago Charlotte contacted me to let me know that she talked to the publishers and they informed her that Amazon had just placed an order and that the book, in fact, was now in stock there! Charlotte and I (after doing the happy dance) naturally concluded that it was the review that got the ball rolling. So way to go 'Villians! When I first checked it said there were five copies in stock at Amazon and more were on the way. Those five copies have now been sold, but there are new copies available for the original sale price of $8.95 all over now. Barnes & Noble has them shipping in two days , and now  The Book Depository and Powell's does as well. My copy is already on its way. It's a midsummer miracle! ...
