Magic Bleeds Cover

Here it is! The cover for Ilona Andrews' fourth Kate Daniels novel--Magic Bleeds. I am seriously aching to get my hands on this one. As you know, Magic Strikes (the 3rd Kate book) knocked my socks off and I can only imagine what the contents of the next one will do to me. What do you think of this cover? I love all the snow. And His Furry Majesty, of course. And Slayer. Ilona has written a post addressing some readers' concerns about what will happen in Magic Bleeds. She talks about trusting the author to know what's best for her characters and her world and it's just the most fabulous post. I highly recommend you go read it. In the meantime I'll just be here admiring the pretty cover and vainly wishing it was May 25th already!

  1. Oh! Oh! Oh Oh Oooooooo!

I LOVE this cover. Great colors for the text and I just LOVE cover art with snow. Thanks for the heads up, Angie.

I'm imagining that Ilona gets a lot of pressure for fans about Kate & Curran, but I'm totally fine---more than fine--with how it's all been working out so far and I do trust the author to write her best story no matter what happens and I won't be angry or devastated if what I want never happens.

    But I'm still hoping. ;)

    Love it! Thanks for sharing.

I was pleased when I read Ilona's post about Kate and Curran, but I trust her (and her husband) with this series. Even if things don't work out between Curran and Kate, I really believe they'll handle in a satisfying way.

Seeing the new cover makes me want to pull out the other books for a reread, but I have too much on my plate to allow myself that. Maybe closer to the pub date.

  4. Christine, I love it, too! The snow is such a nice effect. And I agree with you wholeheartedly. I trust Ilona and Gordon completely. But I haven't relinquished my hopes. :)

    Janicu, LOL.

Karen, absolutely. And I'm dying for a re-read, but my copies have been loaned out to various people for what seems like forever! Must get them back. That or buy 2nd copies!

Laura, I really, really share that hope. hehe.

  5. Oooh nice to see a cover.

Ummm I will be the one dissenting voice and say that I'm not massively bowled over, not quite sure why. The colour scheme isn't quite doing it for me, I think. Also snow for a May release??

On the other hand, I notice the font size for the author name is now as large as the title AND they get the Great Read Guaranteed stamp (which Patricia Briggs also had, IIRC) - all good signs!

Despite not loving the cover, I can't wait for May :-)

  6. Li, I hear ya. The colors of the title and name aren't my favorite. Too bright and cheery for Kate. I hadn't thought about the release time, but you're right. I think it works seeing it now as we're heading into snow season.

Good point on the good signs. This series deserves so much attention!

  7. May 2freakin5th!? Man, that's a long time! Is it just me, or do her boobs get bigger with each cover? lol

  9. Elisa, I know! Grrr. And, yes, her boobs do seem to be enlarging with each installment. Similar to the Mercy Thompson covers, they're always presented much more provocatively than I think the character would be comfortable with. Neither of my two favorite urban fantasy heroines would look or pose or dress thus. *sigh*

    Tiah, so am I!! *bounce*

  10. I love all the Kate Daniels covers.. I really like the colors on this one. I agree with you about the Mercy covers, when I'm reading I keep glancing back at the cover trying to get a feel for her, but she looks a tad bit over the top I'm positive thats not how she is dressed to work on VWs. I still love them though lol.

On Angie, the Relative Scarcity Thereof

I've been a bit scarce round these parts of late and I feel badly about it. But there is a good reason and I've been waiting until today to share it with you. Just so I could include one rather pertinent detail. It's a boy! Fortunately I'm at the point where I'm starting to feel better, so things should soon start resembling business as usual around here. I, for one, am relieved.

Forever Blog Tour + Giveaway!

I'm awfully excited to be a part of this unique blog tour in celebration of the release of Forever by the insanely talented Maggie Stiefvater .  Scholastic recently launched an online community called  This Is Teen  to connect readers with their favorite YA authors and books. Visit their page on   Facebook   for all the latest news on   Maggie Stiefvater   and   Forever .  Each stop on the tour is hosting a particular character from the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy, and I have the good luck to be the stop for Sam--my favorite emo-wolfboy!  Sam is so very endearing, in a decidedly non-angsty or overt way. His breathtaking blend of maturity and vulnerability tugs at my heartstrings and the strength of his relationship with Grace is unswerving.  He is warm and thoughtful and artistic, and I liked him right from the start of the series . Because I can't resist, here are two of my favorite Sam quotes, the first from Grace's point of view in  Shiver and the second from Sam&

For Darkness Shows the Stars by Diana Peterfreund

I know this is an almost unpardonably early review. But honestly, I waited on it as long as I possibly could before the effort of holding it in caused me some sort of bodily harm. I've been anxiously looking forward to For Darkness Shows the Stars  for going on two years now, and the day an ARC showed up on my doorstep was just a very good day indeed . When a book you've been dying to read finally falls into your lap, do you ever just hold onto it and savor the possibilities? I do. I did with this one for a little while. Don't get me wrong, sometimes I just tear into it immediately. But sometimes I don't. Because sometimes dreaming about it while you're actually holding it in your hands is special, too. So I savored and I dreamt and I started reading and . . . I was gone. My first reaction to finishing it was a sense of complete satisfaction mingled with sadness that it was over. My second was thinking that I cannot wait to see  For Darkness Shows the Stars  work
