So it's cover central around here lately. But I can't help but post these lovely pretties as they are revealed. Today Leah Cypess  brings us the cover for her upcoming companion novel to the excellent  Mistwood -- Nightspell .   This is not a direct sequel but rather a standalone novel set in the same universe.  Nightspell , like Mistwood , centers on a strong female lead. Her name is Darri and she's facing down a handful of insanely complex family issues, a land where the dead walk, and a handsome ghost prince. Um, yes please! I honestly can't wait to get my hands on it. Due out May 31st.

Hurray for Alan covers! Sarah Rees Brennan just revealed the cover for the third and final book in her Demon's Lexicon Trilogy-- The Demon's Surrender . And I say it's about time Alan got his own cover. Even if he is holding a bow (which is still awesome) and not his gun (which is Alan). But then I am an Alan Brigand if ever there was one, so I would say that, wouldn't I? This is the U.S. hardback cover and I'm anxious to see what the UK one will look like, as I've loved those covers immensely. What do you think? Who's your favorite character from the trilogy and what have you got your fingers crossed for in this conclusion to the series? This just in! Ilona Andrews has posted the cover for the fifth Kate Daniels book-- Magic Slays . I'm so very excited for this book. As you know, this series is at the very top of my favorite urban fantasy books and the last installment just did not let me down At All. Magic Bleeds was fully awesome from beginning to end and I can already tell this one will be as well. I appreciate the uniformity of these covers, as I do in the Mercy Thompson books. It's always Kate, Slayer, and Curran. The cover for Magic Strikes is still my favorite. But I particularly like the layout of this one, with Kate crouching and looking back, with the moon and the crumbling skyscrapers of Atlanta behind her. What do you think? Magic Slays is due out May 31st.

So I'm awfully late getting around to this one. But I could just never find a copy and then with all the cover issues it was in and out of stock everywhere for what seemed like ages. It sounded like a book I wanted to read right off the bat, despite the issues with cover and availability. Finally my family took pity on me and gave it to me for my birthday awhile back. And now that it's been nominated for the Cybils , I decided it was high time to find out what all the fuss was about. Magic Under Glass is Jaclyn Dolamore 's debut novel and it resides somewhere in the realm of fantasy meets steampunk meets historical fiction. For the record--a realm I love very, very much. I've read quite a mixed batch of reviews on it around the blogosphere, but I was nevertheless fairly excited still to find out for myself what lay between the pages of this slim but intriguing book. Retro Friday  is a weekly meme hosted here at Angieville and focuses on reviewing books from the past. It may have been on Meg Cabot 's blog a few years ago, come to think of it. She's always dropping good recommendations here and there and I often pick up on them. This one I ran down at my local library, where they fortunately had the gorgeous cover on the right. And not the hideously awkward cover on the left. I adore the cover on the right. It's really perfect for the book itself, evoking all the adjectives that spring to my mind when I think of it: shadowy, romantic, autumnal, and somewhat foreboding.
